Product Portfolio

A product file is a document or collection of documents that documents all the important and necessary information for the development, production, and manufacturing of a product and its parts. It serves as a central tool in the product development process and includes technical, design, and engineering data. The portfolio is built during the development process and continues to be updated throughout the life of the product.

  1. It contains a complete breakdown of the product, its main features, function, and use.
  2. Engineering and design drawings detailing the physical structure, materials, and various parts of the product.
  3. Description of the production process includes information about machines, tools, molds, and raw materials needed to manufacture the product.
  4. Bill of Materials (BOM): A list that includes all the materials and parts required to manufacture the product, including sources of purchase and costs.
  5. A technical specification document detailing the performance and quality requirements of the product, as well as technological standards it needs to meet.
  6. Description of the outer and inner packaging of the product, including drawings and packaging instructions.
  7. A guide/description that explains to users how to use the product.
  8. If necessary, safety instructions and regulatory standards: a description of all the guidelines and regulatory requirements that the product must meet, such as safety standards or environmental standards.

In conclusion, a product portfolio is a key tool in the product development process, without which it is difficult to make a smooth transition from development to production and marketing.
